Interactive Web Meeting

by Jeremy Frankel

Web meetings or web conferences are saving a lot of business people time and money. Although real meetings are always better than online ones, the trade off is more than worth it considering the amount of travel expenses and time that are saved. These days, web conferencing programs are getting more feature intensive, with most having some type of desktop/document sharing ability, video, and VoIP.

Web meetings are very simple to use. In fact, its hard finding one that is not easy to work with. Furthermore, very few have technical issues. All of this is important when you want meetings to go smooth and without error. For a web meeting program, whose core feature is desktop sharing, you are going to have to drop about $50 a month.

The two most popular web conferencing products are Gotomeeting and Webex, with Webex having a little more popularity. Both are rivals. Although Webex costs more, it allows you to have 10 more people within each meeting (25 instead of 15). Because you are charged a monthly fee with each of these services, you can use them as often as you want.

Before you buy any web conferencing solution, you have to check if it makes financial sense. Are you buying it just to buy it? Can you get by, by using a free product such as Skype, which allows for up to 5 people in a conference, or the free version of Yugma, which allows 15 users in a meeting?

When shopping for a web meeting program, rather than just focusing on the features, you want to see if it is easy to set up for the participants that will be in your meetings.

In the end, what web meeting program you utilize depends on what you need. If you need to show clients a lot of detailed artwork files, Fuze Meeting is worth a look because it specializes in sharing files with a high quality format. If you desire many nice features, Microsoft Live Meeting is worth a look at. If you want to communicate with only several clients without sharing files, Skype would be a good option.
